A GOOD CASED .38 BAR-HAMMER PEPPERBOX PERCUSSION REVOLVER RETAILED BY HAMBLING OF TOTNESS, CIRCA 1845, no visible serial number,
with 3in. Birmingham proofed barrel cluster with strong traces of original finish, round bodied action in German silver, both side panels, backstrap and flat butt-plate with scroll engraving, self cocking action with bar-hammer engraved to match, iron trigger-guard with foliate engraved bow, two piece finely chequered walnut grips, contained in its original green baize lined and partitioned mahogany case, the lid with the retailers trade label of William Hambling, accessories include a three way flask, pincer mould, turnscrew (nipple pricker missing), tin of Eley percussion caps and a rare Horsley and Coopers Patent six shot ball dispenser No 759

Provenance: The retailer was William B. Hambling trading at Fore Street, Totnes circa 1843 to 1855, later at Plymouth Road, the business taken over by sons Charles and Henry circa 1865
